Brace yourselves, because as if you needed a reason to visit the Australian island of Tasmania, it also is coming with a perk. The island’s tourism organization is hiring for a Chief Wombat Cuddle – no joke, here is the link to prove it: proof!
The job details: cuddling an orphan wombat named Derek while spending time exploring the island.
Derek was discovered after his mother had been killed by a car and is now being raised by “Wombat Lady of Flinders Island,” Kate Mooney.
(Wipe away tears)
This little guy has gone viral and stolen hearts all over with this video of him scurrying through the beach. It is like he is running to you. Is there a better way to convince you to apply? At Maker’s Mart we don’t think so.
Sadly, the contest is only open to Australian residents, but this leaves hope in that other cuddling jobs will come available someday. I mean, after all, as Mashable reported, Virginia had a baby goat cuddler position open earlier this year.
The job posting even states: “Non-cuddlers need not apply.” (How cute is that?) At least at Maker’s Mart cuddlers and non-cuddler can apply as long as you like to create.
